The house comprises two distinct styles of architecture.

The original Post and Beam House was constructed by Captain Harris approximately 200 years ago.

A Victorian Addition was then added approximately

The result is a house with two self contained sections

with adjoining doors on both floors.

Having two staircases and three entrances, the house offers many possibilities for a family looking for an income from their property.

This former restaurant has been converted back to a family home, and is currently

undergoing a total renovation.

There have been many improvements made so far, including:

Two Selkirk Double Walled Stainless Steel Chimneys have been installed for the new airtight Sweetheart Cookstove in the kitchen, and for the new airtight woodstove in the sitting room.

All exterior walls have insulated, the Post and Beam section walls have been double studded, making them 10 inches thick, to allow for two layers of fibreglass insulation batts, giving an insulation value of R30. The roof has Blown-In Insulation, to a depth of 16 inches, giving an insulation value of R55.

The walls between the two sections have also been insulated to enable easy winterizing of one side.

There are water filled base board radiators with a high efficiency oil-fired boiler.

The cookstove has been installed with a water jacket that heats a water tank upstairs.

Water can be heated using electric, oil or wood depending on the season.

The windows have been replaced with a mixture of Triple Low E Argon (R8) glazing

and Double glazing, making this house a very warm and economical home to live in.

New bathroom fittings and plumbing have been installed.

New electrical wiring throughout the house.

Where possible, the lathe and plaster has been removed and all walls and ceilings are now

plaster board. The dividing bedroom and bathroom walls have been sound proofed.

The original 200 year old beams have been left exposed.

The owners are continuing with the renovation, and are willing to negotiate the selling price,

depending on the stage of completion.
